Mentoring Gifted Children

It is my role as a teacher & protector of children that I offer my guidance services. My years of experience with children; recall of my own childhood; as well as, the many stories other intuitive adults had experienced as a child. Awareness is paramount in helping these children to develop their strengths without fear & reticule, allowing them to live as normal a life.

It is important for the Parents &/or caregivers of sensitive/intuitive or psychic children have a stable support system. Most children are born with varying levels of sensitivity; many are extremely sensitive or as I often say “connected”. Whilst these children are developing you will notice little clues to whether they are sensitive or not.

The following information does not exclude normal growth stages or health related issues.

6mths -2 years

Wake throughout the night for no apparent reason
Do not like sleeping in their crib/cot
Appear to be looking at something &/or reacting, however, to a parent there is nothing to see!

2 years – 5 years

Once they start to verbalize they may tell you things e.g. “a lady is next to you” or similar or even “…… has a purple light around them”.
Wake frightened during their sleep times – appear to be having what is referred to as Night Terrors.
Tell you about scary dreams
There may be areas of the home that the child does not like playing in – often their own bedroom, preferring to play under your feet so to speak.
They may be talking to someone (invisible), or even innocently predict an event.
They are often extremely sensitive to the moods of others
Socializing with other children may be difficult for them – as they pick on the energies of other children, and often prefer to play alone.
Occasionally they are labelled as socially immature for their age; &/or precocious.
However, there are many variables not mentioned. Just as each adult is uniquely different each child is as well.

5 years & older

This is a difficult time for gifted children – as many gifted adults will tell you, they dis-connected from their natural abilities. The most common reason was having a bad experience which was fearful.
